Upcoming works on A22 - New roundabout

Update 04.03.2021:

Further to previous notifications, please be advised of the following planned traffic management on the A22 Uckfield Bypass:

A22 Uckfield Bypass – Overnight Road Closures

Monday 8th March & Tuesday 9th March 2021, both nights from 2100h to 0600h.

A22 Uckfield Bypass – Overnight Two way traffic lights

Wednesday 10th March to Sunday 28th March 2021 – occasional use of overnight traffic lights during this period.

While the current COVID restrictions on travel and movement are in place, and to take advantage of the low overnight traffic flows, the two overnight road closures of the A22 will help to ensure that there is no risk of the works overrunning beyond the end of April 2021 and then risk coming into conflict with other planned roadworks, just as the COVID restrictions may be lifted and traffic flows begin to return to normal levels.

To minimise diverted traffic from using Uckfield town centre and the ongoing UKPN roadworks, the signed diversion route during the two night-time closures will be via B2192 and A272 (via Blackboys and Buxted).

The above traffic management is necessary to complete the construction tie-ins of the new roundabout with the existing A22 and upon completion the live traffic will switch over to the other side of the road allowing the remaining roundabout construction to proceed.

The variable message signs to keep drivers informed will be updated accordingly.

Update 07.12.2020:
